The train runs through it

Wassaic, New York

A few pictures from the Housatonic Camera Club outing in Wassaic , New York. November 29, 2022.

Wassaic is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Amenia, Dutchess County, New York, United States. Located in southeastern New York in the valley of the Ten Mile River, Wassaic is bordered to the east and west by mountain ranges. The name of the hamlet is derived from the Native American word Washaic; "land of difficult access" or "narrow valley". However, Europeans found ready access by following the Housatonic River valley up from Long Island Sound and through the mountains along the Ten Mile River.~Wikipedia~

In the village, trains roll past
Silos stand tall, a stark contrast
Quiet and still, a moment of peace
A small town's beauty, never to cease

Two teddy bears in a red house
Looking out with hopeful eyes
Wishing for a day to roam
And play outside.
Their hearts with longing sighs.
But for now, they sit and wait
Dreaming of the sunny day
When they can run and play outside
And have the time of their lives.
Silos stand tall, a stark contrast
Quiet and still, a moment of peace
A small town's beauty, never to cease
